A Certain Slant of Light

Reminder...Book Club will be during all three lunches tomorrow January 4th. We are discussing A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb.

Check out her website and publisher's website.

I look forward to discussing this book with you. I know many of you have said that you enjoyed it and are looking forward to the discussion. I made the cookies (from scratch) last night. Joel (Mr. Rech) said they were very good--I think they are called "Five Chip Cookies"

Happy reading!

i read the book yesterday, i'd like to discuss, but can'at the moment. well, i can say that i found a spelling mistake in the book: remember is spelled "rember" somewhere in there. ;-]

i was just wondering, bee, if you'd talked to mr. krueger about a Library Thing yet. you should corrupt him, fast! talk to him about it during the book discussion today! (and tell everyone i say hi!)

i'll check back later, to see if there's any discussion on here yet!! tata!

There was a lot of discussion about the ending during the lunch hours. What did you think of the ending? Did you think it was a happy ending? Did you feel like you were left hanging? Were you satisfied?

I'll post more later about what I really thought...

Kaati I did encourage everyone to get on here and post! We miss you!

About the ending.... I remember the first time I read the book that I was disappointed with the ending, and I did feel like it just cut off... But since I read it a second time, I remembered more of what had happened in the beginning and the relationship between James and Helen, and I thought the (very) ending was really sweet! I loved how in the end James helped Helen realize that she hadn't killed her own daughter, which was probably her own fear that kept her on Earth as Light.
I don't believe in ghosts, but I really love this book!!

I really liked the book.I was a little creeped out when they took over a person's body. But I guess it was for the better because 4 people were helped. I think it's weird how she like stalked her hosts. I wonder what it must of felt like when the coldness started pulling at her. It really made me think about spirits and such. We decieded that everytime it gets cold, a Light has entered the room. Pretty cool.
